How to become a designer?

I Misty i see you are from Australia, What software do you use ,and are you a Newbie to all this . some people can fly before they walk, i use CS4, and before you take classes you need to know how to make a layout in Photoshop or PSE as lessons step into other parts of the programn that you normally would not use (I Think) Take Andrea's advice

Yep I'm from Sydney, Australia. I use a mix of GIMP and CS3 when creating my pages, mostly cause the main computer I use didn't have enough memory to add my photoshop when I got it but hubby's laptop does so it is on there. I have been creating digital LOs for a few years now and have sort of dabbled in designing a little. I'm strting with the beginner class as you are suppose to do and haven't seen anything too bad yet (though I am quite a bit behind ATM). As for taking Andrea's advice of course I will be doing that, and that of anyone else who offers it, I am happy to be a long term student at this point in time.
