How do you make SWIRLS?

I would love to know how to make swirls and flourishes in Photoshop CS3. I have been drawing them by handing and scanning them in, but the quality is not as great as I would like. Can anyone help me figure out how to make them within Photoshop? Thanks in advance!

I know how to make them in PSP but have no idea in CS3 .... Someone in the know will be along to answer I am sure.

hhmm, are swirls not one of the pre-set shapes that come with PSCS??? Its been a long time since I used it, so I am possibly wrong, but I thought that's where I used to get them from!

I use Illustrator and I think most designers do. I've never gotten decent results in Photoshop. :)

I own Illustrator but I have never used it. How do you make swirls in Illustrator?

I googled swirls, tutorial, and illustrator together and got losts of stuff....now i just need time to play.
