I know this if from last year, but I have wanted to try and make a siggie since I saw this post, and now I am finally trying...better late than never, right? And, I didn't make a patriotic one.

And, I don't know how to make one where the elements go outside the paper - tried, but the background was then made white, and it didn't look that great...any helps?

Start off with these instructions: Create a new document with the dimensions 1000 pixels high and 3000 pixels wide and 72 dpi, and then decorate to your heart's content! Then resize to 100x300 pixels, save and add to your signature! When you save, you can save it as a PNG and merge, not flatten. That should take care of the white background, as the PNG will leave it in the transparent format if that is what you started with.

If you save as a PNG file with transparent background, it will show up in the gallery with a black background, but on the regular forum pages, it will show the white background of the page. So, you can just start out with a white background and layer on top of that.
