New Computer

In the New Year, I am considering changing over from a pc to a mac. I've about had it with my pc and am itching to make the switch. I've been a pc person forever and am a little scared to do it. Also, because of my job, I've always had a "school" computer and haven't had my very own computer in at least 15 years. So my question, all my digi-scrapping materials are on my pc. Are they all compatible with a Mac system?

Anna - if you go to a Mac dealer, they will be able to help you and transfer everything over. It's virtually seamless. As far as your applications go, if you're using PS Elements or Photoshop, if you call Adobe, they will upgrade you for a nominal fee. They will ask you to destroy your PC versions. Both of my kids and my best friend have recently switched to a MAC and are totally loving it and found it pretty easy to pick up - especially my girlfriend - who is NOT computer savvy. But your best bet is to go to a Mac specialist/store and they will walk you all through it.

Of course, I'm pretty biased as I've been a Mac user my whole life and I've never had one crash or one virus. Mac's were the industry standard in the graphics/prepress/printing industry and that's what I've always worked on.

Anna, I totally agree with Darlene. You'll love the Mac!

And all your stash will be perfectly compatible with your new Mac, as it's only the applications that need to be changed over to Mac versions. You can certainly get the Educator's packages for CS at a much reduced rate, and if you want, something like Word-Excel-PowerPoint (there are free packages of this sort of thing, or you can just use Google Docs for that sort of stuff without buying a whole package). Have fun!!
