Meet the new ITV celebs! :)
Here's the story of a little adventure Patrick and I have been having during the past 2 two weeks:
Patrick has an e-bay shop where he sells all different kinds of collectables. About two weeks ago he received a message by ITV (a UK television company) that they were still looking for participants for their series "Storage Hoarders" and would he like to take part together with a show partner. First we thought this was a hoax or a scam but after a couple of days Patrick decided to call the number given in the e-mail to find out what this was all about. Well, what can I say? It was for real!
For those of you who don't know the show, this is what it is about: If you have collected or "hoarded" a lot of stuff over the past years and don't really know what to do with it, the "Storage Hoarder" team will come along, sort it all out for you, take some of it to the skip, give some of it to charity shops and the more valuable items will be offered for sale at auction, i.e. be offered for sale to a specialist. At the end of it all you should have an empty garage, loft or shed and made quite a bit of money.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, we decided to participate and two days later our house was invaded by a camera team. All the sequences were filmed and it was very interesting to see just how a show like that was produced. There were periods of just waiting around, there were interviews, periods of frantic activitiy and lots and lots of fun and laughter. The camera team was at our house for two days and then we were sent to London for two days to see one of the specialists and to go to the auction at Chiswick. We sold all of our items at the auction and came away with a lot more money than we had originally anticipated. I must say ITV looked after us very, very well. We were taken everywhere by taxi and train, all our transportation costs, hotel bills and other expenses were paid for and we only had to utter a wish and it was fulfilled. Great and very dedicated people who clearly love and enjoy their job.
We then had two days at home to recuperate and had then to travel by train to Somerset where we were to see a specialist in the hope of selling Patrick's quite extensive collection of cigarette, bubble gum and trading cards. Alas, the condition of Patrick's cards wasn't good enough for this really serious collector but we got an awful lot of information and tips as to where and how we might be able to sell our cards. Again, everybody was extremely friendly and nice and so the day wasn't wasted although we spent most of it on the train and it being Patrick's birthday and all.
So, this was our little excursion into the world of film and television. We don't know the exact date when "our" show will be shown but it will be on ITV, daytime television, probably at the end of September. As soon as I have the exact date, I'll let you all know and whoever lives in the UK and would like to watch it, can do so.
All in all it was a worthwhile, if rather exhausting experience but Patrick and I are both agreed that we would do it again anytime!

Wow....we have a TV celebrity in our midst! That is fabulous Andrea. Glad that it was a fun experience, and profitable!
Maybe there will be a video of it that those of us who are not in the UK can see! That would be great!
Congrats to you and Patrick.....your life sure has been an adventure since you and he got together again!

Thank you so much for your interest in our little adventure, ladies! I'm at present trying to get hold of a copy of the finished product myself, as we do not have any means of recording it and we would like to keep it to "show to the grandkids" one day. :)
Here is an internet link where you can watch the show for up to a week after it has been shown. As soon as I know the release date for "our" show, I'll let you know. https://www.itv.com/itvplayer/
