About gingerscraps
Biography:
I lived in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma with my husband, Gary, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper, Retired. We have two son's Justin and Kyle currently both Staff Sgts. with 45th Infantry Division, 160th Field Artillery. Justin and Kyle are both University of Oklahoma Police Officer. I have four natural grandchildren, Kadence, Gunner, twins Ryan and Nathan. Plus 3 step-grandchildren, Emmie, Maddy and Logan.

I am a local photographer who shares my years of experience with my students and friends at Mid-America Technology Center. I also travel to area towns where I teach basic photography through their Chamber of Commerce. My Vo-Technical classes include: DSLR Basic Photography, Photoshop, Elements and Digital Scrapbooking.

In addition to teaching I do custom framing, portrait and artistic photography. I'm a Garvin County Fair Photography Superintendent, member of the Southern Oklahoma Camera Club, "Artist of the Arbuckle", National Association of Professional Women, National Association of Photoshop Professionals and judge for different entities.

I recently published my first book "DSLR Basic Photography."

How did you get into designing?

I started scrapping my first grandchild, then became a member of several creative teams. There were times I needed something different then what the kits had and once I finished a layout I would go back and create what I actually wanted for my layout before printing. I loved having unique elements to work with so I photograph and extract over 75% of the elements used in my kits.

What is your favorite product that you have designed?

I would have to say "Angels Among Us" I created this kit in honor of my sister, Sherry, who had just passed away 3 days after Christmas 2013. She was my biggest supporter and she was not afraid to tell me what she liked and didn't like. During this time my creative team became my family and Denise (known as Hy Ellen) fell into the roll of my sister, she became my biggest fan, critic and best friend even a half a world away.

What would you tell a new digi scrapper?

Visit the galleries for designs and layouts you like and use them as a guide for your own style. Join different store challenges like Progressive Scrap (which I host with Dana's Footprint Design and Studio 4 Designsworks)it is excellent for making one think outside the box. Plus challenges are a great way to meet new designers and fellow scrappers.

What inspires you?

My grandchildren, my photography and colors.

Do you ever get burned out from scrapping or designing and what do you do to get past that?

No, I don't as a photographer first it has always been important to me to document my family and events for future generations. I want my future family to know their roots.

What is your favorite thing about online selling of digital art?

When I receive notification of a sale I always look to see where the buyer lives. If they are from Oklahoma, I send them a personal email thanking them from one Okie to another. I have met some awesome people that way and found one of my creative team member, Mary, from just up the interstate from me.

I have always love the gratification of my photography, but since I started in the Digi World, each day is new and exciting. After breaking my hip and having to under go two hip replacement surgeries I don't think I would have come out on top without my scrapbooking family and friends.

My biggest regret? Not choosing a smaller designer name ... but Ginger is my birth name and all the good names were already taken. Gingerbread was not an option as I have been teased with that name my entire life!!
