Why would you be crazy enough to scrap under pressure like a time crunch? Because it’s so much fun!!! And do we ever do anything that doesn't give you participation bonuses? And you could be the one lucky random participant to win a $5 gift card to the store!

What is a speed scrap??? Everyone meets in our forum at the designated time. You receive an instruction at the start time and then a new instruction every ten minutes for a total of seven instructions/prompts. After the last prompt is given you have one hour to complete your LO and upload to the our gallery and link to it in the forum thread.

To accomodate our international community, we will have 2...yes 2...speed scraps so mark your calendars for the following:

Saturday, June 28th, 8pm eastern (request email reminder) (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/forum/calendar.php?do=addreminder&e=398)
Wednesday, July 2nd, noon eastern (request email reminder) (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/forum/calendar.php?do=addreminder&e=399)

These will be two totally different speed scraps with two totally different sets of rules.

For those of you who participate in one of these speed scraps you will receive my Dudes with Attitude AddOn.

http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/images/medium/hollyann_dwa_addon_MED.jpg

For those of you crazy enough to do both speed scraps you will get my Sweet Elegance page kit!

Ok ladies, here we go...

For the next hour+, every 10 minutes, I will give instructions on the next step to building a layout. After I give the last instruction (there are 7), you will have one hour to complete your layout, upload it to your member gallery and link back here. If you have any troubles or questions along the way, just post here and I will assist..

Most importantly............HAVE FUN!

Ok, here's your first instruction:

1. Choose 2 photos, sized the same (with or without frame).

Step 3...

1. Choose 2 photos, sized the same (with or without frame).
2. Choose 2 papers: one solid, one patterned.
3. Make a bottom border out of patterned paper chosen from step 2. Shape of border is left up to you (ie. torn paper, curled paper, scalloped, straight, wavy, etc).

HollyS
06-28-2008, 05:21 PM
When I say out of patterned paper, i meant the 1 pattern paper you chose in step 2, not an additional one.

4. "Tuck" 12 elements (same or different) under bottom border so they can be seen popping out from under the border.

Holly,
Do the 12 elements need to be different or can they be several different elements duplicated to equal 12?

ewb68
06-28-2008, 05:33 PM
Okay - I was with you up until this. I'm thinking this means I put the things behind the paper and just let it stick out of it from the top and bottom. Is that what this means? Or does it mean to make the paper more transparent and put the elements behind it?

scrappintwins
06-28-2008, 05:34 PM
OH is it 12 different elements or can we use 2-3 of the same ones?

Step 5...

4. "Tuck" 12 elements (same or different) under bottom border so they can be seen popping out from under the border.
5. Use fasteners and/or ribbons to hang photos from top of the layout...pictures with or without frames can be angled as you wish. Can use as many ribbons and fasteners as you wish :)

HollyS
06-28-2008, 05:40 PM

I'm here!!! I read the list so far and am off to scrap the photos from our day trip to the beach... now the question is do I use one of Helen's kits or Christy's as I owe them both some layouts this week... off to check on my stash...

Can we *double duty* this layout? Say, if we use the Father's Day Collab kit, can we enter it here and in the Collab challenge??

The Scrappin 7 program doesn't count one layout for 2 challenges as 2 toward the 7 so I don't think we can do that here...

I tried to upload it into the miscellaneous gallery for the challenges but it said I exceeded file size. I'm VERY new to all this... I had already saved it as a jpeg. Should I have done something more to make it smaller still? Does "flattening" it make it even smaller in PSE6?

What I do is Save For Web > then choose a size of 600x600. That jpg is what i upload :)

I usually make my lo's for display smaller....from 3600 x 3600 at 300 dpi to 600 x 600 at 300 or 72 dpi. I keep the big files for printing and the small jpeg files for display on sites.

I've flattened it AND put it in a jpeg and it's still telling me I've exceeded file size. Any ideas on how I can upload?

It would have flattened if you made it a jpeg already. You need to make sure it is sized down to 600 by 600 probably and make sure it is a file size of 150 kb or so? Not sure what the limits are here. I hope you can get it.

Wasn't this fun?

In PSE if you have your jpeg file open, do File, Save for Web and that will help! Then make it 600 x 600 and quality of about 5 or 6?

This was just great, It was a push but worth it. Nice to have something to "take home" after a crop/chat thingy. Thank you very much for your creativity.

What program are you using? They all have ways of resizing or saving in a smaller version. Maybe we could help more if we knew exactly what you are using.

Edit: Oh great!!! I see you made it!! Off to see it now!!!
