View Full Version : Prayer request

My husband is in the hospital - yesterday after lunch his eyes started swelling up so I took him to the ER. They kept him overnight because they needed to monitor him to make sure that the swelling goes down.

This happened last summer, too, and we never figured out what it was that caused the allergic reaction. Neither time had he eaten anything new or out of the ordinary. The Dr. this time thinks it may be the Licenopril he takes for high blood pressure. He's been on it for 10 years, but they say that you can be on it for 10 or 20 years and never have a reaction, but have one all of the sudden.

Anyway, hopefully I will be able to bring him home this afternoon.

I'm at the hospital visiting him right now. He looks so much better (he looked like Mr. Magoo yesterday with his eyes all swollen shut and his face puffy).

I only now saw this thread. However, I'm thinking of you all and you are in my prayers. I hope they will figure out what caused it. I know how scary it can be without any knowledge of the cause. Lots of HUGS!

No answers yet - he has to go to the allergy clinic. We have military to deal with - I got a referral to the allergy clinic 3 weeks ago, and my appointment is still 2 weeks ago. He still has to get into his primary care before he can even get that referral

Well, you're in my thoughts and prayers! Hang in there!

So sorry to hear they didn't find anything yet Melanie. He's in my thoughts and prayers. Stuff like that can get scary when they don't know what's causing it.
My SIL Todd's dad was never allergic to anything and all of a sudden he can't eat nuts or seafood, go figure and he's in his 60's

I hope he is fine now and you will have the answere too.

Hi Melanie, I just saw this thread. I hope your dh is doing better. I would think it would be unusual for his medicine to cause swelling in his eyes. Seems like that would be more systemic-over the whole body. sounds like a reaction to food or pollen. You can go for years and not be allergic to food and then be allergic...strange but true. Anyway, good luck with the allergist...hope they figure it all out. And you might want to carry one of those allergy kits with you from now on. You never know. Take care, Kweta
