Hi, you are one hour behind us so that would be 8pm central time.

What is a speed scrap??? Everyone meets in our forum at the designated time. You receive an instruction at the start time and then a new instruction every ten minutes for a total of seven instructions/prompts. After the last prompt is given you have one hour to complete your LO and upload to the our gallery and link to it in the forum thread.

Why would you be crazy enough to scrap under pressure like a time crunch? Because itís so much fun!!! And do we ever do anything that doesn't give you participation bonuses? And you could be the one lucky random participant to win a $5 gift card to the store!

Hope to see you join us!

Question: are we supposed to use only GDS products?

DH has to travel to a funeral today and probably won't come back until tomorrow, so I think I can make this since he won't be around to nag me about not paying him any attention! And seeing how the only way I can seem to get a LO done anymore is during a speed scrap, I think I'd better show up!! :)

Another hint for first timers -- if you go to your options (look in quick links). You can put your number of posts displayed to 40 per page and you can also order you posts so that the newest is first. I find that those things help.

Woohoo! I am ready to speed scrap.

OH MY Gosh has she been doing foster care or are these her first?

This is her first. They were licensed for only 3, but they are siblings so they took all 4, then the mother gave birth to #5, but my DD said that was just too much to take on 5, especially when this is all new to them. They would have loved to have the baby though. That is what they really want at some point, with the intent of adoption.

Here another step:

Step 1: choose one photo
Step 2: cut photo into circle or clip to an existing circle or cut into circular frame (hint, another hot trend is to take ribbons or string that is shaped into a circle and use that for a frame)
Step 3: Choose 5 papers (any combo of solid & patterned you like). Choose 1 background paper from these.

Step 3: Choose 5 papers (any combo of solid & patterned you like). Choose 1 background paper from these.
Step 4: Cut rest of the papers into circles of various sizes and layer circles including photo along right side of layout.
Step 5: Anchor circles (meaning as layer between your background and all the circles) with some type of vertical element like straight ribbon(s) or strips of paper.
Step 6: Embellish as you wish but be sure to include at least 1 circular element
Step 7: Add a title and/or at least one line of journaling and date for when picture was taken.

You have another hour (pssst...I'm not watching the clock) to finish your layout and upload to the Speed Scrap (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=927) gallery.

Can't wait to see what you create!

LOL... well, I stuck something on top of all the circles to hold them down with one element. i'll go back and play with strips of paper to see what it does for the layout. I'm sure you guys know what you have in mind, but this is definitely something my feeble brain hasn't tackled before. :) This is why I love the design challenges of speed scrapping. getting outside the box

What program are you using? Most have a crop or marquee tool.. Just need to choose the circel or oval shape. Then cut or copy paste

I did that but they look oval and then there a back ground on them...

Might just have to stick to "artistic license" on this one cause I think i missed something somewhere. One look at my layout and y'all will be saying "ok... don't take this the wrong way, but you really might want to start with beginner"

(for photoshop) Just make sure you hold down the 'shift' key while you drag the circle marquee tool and it will stay round

Yeh, I'm not keeping up too well, either, Amy. I used to consider myself an expert chatter -LOL... but when in a speed scrap, I just can't keep up!!

Cathy & Shannon - actually, I'm looking at the toolbar wondering what in the world some of these tools are for <g> I kept accidentally choosing the selection paintbrush. No clue....

The beginner class I took definitely helped me to learn all the toolbars. I really am thinking about retaking it for a refresher and then going on to the next class.
